Forks out front, counterweight at the back, no outriggers to get in the way. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Refresher or conversion: 1 day. - [Reach Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/reach-truck/): The high-bay warehouse specialist. Outriggers for stability and a mast that reaches forward into the racking, so the truck itself never has to. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Refresher or conversion: 1 day. - [Double Deep Reach Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/double-deep-reach-truck/): A reach truck with a telescopic pantograph that can place a second pallet behind the first, squeezing far more stock into the same floor space. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion from reach: 1 day. - [4-Way (Multi-Directional) Reach Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/multi-directional-four-way-reach-truck/): The long-load truck. All four wheels turn through ninety degrees so the operator can carry timber, steel or pipe sideways down a narrow aisle. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion: 1 day. - [VNA Truck (Man-Up and Man-Down)](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/vna-very-narrow-aisle/): Very narrow aisle trucks run in wire- or rail-guided aisles barely wider than a pallet, with the forks swivelling to serve both sides without the truck turning. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion from reach: 1 to 2 days. - [Bendi and Flexi (Articulated) Forklift](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/bendi-flexi-articulated/): The truck that bends in the middle. An articulated front end lets one machine unload the lorry outside and stack in very narrow aisles inside. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion: 1 to 2 days. - [Pivot Steer Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/pivot-steer/): An articulated truck with a steering pivot behind the mast, giving a tight turning circle for narrow-aisle work with a counterbalance-style front end. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion: 1 to 2 days. - [Powered Pallet Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/powered-pallet-truck/): Pedestrian and ride-on electric pallet trucks for moving pallets at floor level: goods-in, lorry loading, order marshalling and shop floors. Novice: half a day to 1 day · Refresher: half a day. - [Pedestrian Stacker Truck](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/pedestrian-stacker/): A walk-behind truck with a mast. Lifts pallets into racking or onto vehicles in places a sit-on forklift would not fit. Novice: 1 to 2 days · Refresher: half a day to 1 day. - [Telehandler (Telescopic Handler)](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/telehandler/): A telescopic boom on a rough-terrain chassis. Lifts pallets and materials up and out to where a mast forklift cannot reach. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Experienced or refresher: 1 to 2 days. - [Order Picker (Low, Medium and High Level)](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/order-picker/): Trucks that lift the operator to the stock. Low-level pickers run at floor height; high-level pickers take the operator to the top shelf. Novice: 1 to 3 days depending on level · Refresher: 1 day. - [Rough Terrain (Masted) Counterbalance](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/rough-terrain-counterbalance/): A counterbalance forklift built for mud, gravel and gradients, with big tyres, high ground clearance and a conventional mast. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion from counterbalance: 1 day. - [Side Loader](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-types/side-loader/): A truck with the mast mounted sideways in a well, so timber, steel and pipe can be carried lengthways and stored in narrow aisles. Novice: 3 to 5 days · Conversion: 1 to 2 days. ## Course levels - [Novice Forklift Training](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-training/novice/): The full basic operator course for people who have never driven a lift truck. Three to five days at your Nottinghamshire premises, finishing with the accredited test. - [Semi-Experienced Forklift Training](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-training/semi-experienced/): For operators who have driven a forklift informally but never been formally trained or certificated. Typically two days. - [Refresher Forklift Training](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-training/refresher/): A one-day re-test and re-certification for experienced operators. The HSE recommends refresher training every three to five years and after any incident. - [Conversion Forklift Training](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/forklift-training/conversion/): For certificated operators moving to a different category of truck: counterbalance to reach, reach to VNA, counterbalance to telehandler and so on. One to two days. ## Nottinghamshire towns and cities covered - [Nottingham](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/nottingham/): City of Nottingham (NG1 to NG9, NG11, NG15 to NG17) - [Mansfield](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/mansfield/): Mansfield District (NG18, NG19, NG21) - [Newark-on-Trent](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/newark-on-trent/): Newark and Sherwood (NG22 to NG24) - [Worksop](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/worksop/): Bassetlaw (S80, S81) - [Retford](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/retford/): Bassetlaw (DN22) - [Sutton-in-Ashfield](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/sutton-in-ashfield/): Ashfield (NG17) - [Kirkby-in-Ashfield](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/kirkby-in-ashfield/): Ashfield (NG17) - [Hucknall](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/hucknall/): Ashfield (NG15) - [Arnold](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/arnold/): Gedling (NG5) - [Carlton, Netherfield and Colwick](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/carlton-netherfield-colwick/): Gedling (NG4) - [West Bridgford](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/west-bridgford/): Rushcliffe (NG2) - [Beeston](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/beeston/): Broxtowe (NG9) - [Stapleford](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/stapleford/): Broxtowe (NG9) - [Eastwood](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/eastwood/): Broxtowe (NG16) - [Bulwell](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/bulwell/): City of Nottingham (NG6) - [Bingham](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/bingham/): Rushcliffe (NG13) - [Southwell and Lowdham](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/southwell-lowdham/): Newark and Sherwood (NG14, NG25) - [Ollerton and Edwinstowe](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/ollerton-edwinstowe/): Newark and Sherwood (NG21, NG22) - [Rainworth, Blidworth and Clipstone](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/rainworth-blidworth-clipstone/): Mansfield and Newark and Sherwood (NG21) - [Harworth and Bircotes](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/harworth-bircotes/): Bassetlaw (DN11) - [Cotgrave and Keyworth](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/cotgrave-keyworth/): Rushcliffe (NG12) - [Ruddington and East Leake](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/areas/ruddington-east-leake/): Rushcliffe (NG11, LE12) ## Frequently asked questions - **Do you train individuals who want a forklift licence?** No. Forklift Agency trains businesses only, on site at premises where forklift trucks are available. If you are an individual in Nottingham looking for a course, our Forklift Training Centres website lists centres by region, or search for "forklift training centres" on Yell. - **Where does the training happen?** At your premises, on your trucks, in the environment your operators actually work in. We do not run a training centre in Nottingham or anywhere else. The instructor brings everything else: the safety videos on a laptop or tablet, theory material, cones, test papers and the certificates. - **Which accrediting bodies do you work with?** Our instructors are registered with RTITB, AITT or ITSSAR, the accrediting bodies whose certificates are recognised by the Health and Safety Executive under the Approved Code of Practice L117. Every instructor has been vetted by us, holds their own public liability insurance and has worked with Forklift Agency for years. - **How long does a forklift course take?** A novice counterbalance course for three candidates takes three days. Reach trucks, VNA, telehandlers and articulated trucks take longer. Refresher and conversion courses are normally one day, and powered pallet truck courses can be half a day. We confirm the duration in the quote. - **How many people can one instructor train?** Three novices on one truck is the accredited-body maximum. Refresher courses can take more candidates in a day. For bigger groups we send more than one instructor or run consecutive courses, whichever costs you less. - **Do you charge more for nights or weekends?** No. Our instructors fit into your shift pattern, including early mornings, nights and weekends, at no extra cost, subject to availability. - **Is there a travel charge for Nottinghamshire?** No. Training anywhere in Nottinghamshire, from Harworth to East Leake, is quoted at the same rate. Derbyshire is covered by our Derby site and the rest of the UK by Forklift Agency. - **When will we get the certificates?** Certificates are usually posted within 14 days of training where you have a credit account with us, or within 28 days of payment being received by other means. - **Can we open a credit account?** Yes. Credit accounts are available to businesses subject to a credit assessment and references. The first booking is always paid in advance. Existing account customers can log in to the customer portal. - **Does a forklift certificate expire?** A certificate of basic training has no legal expiry date, but the HSE recommends refresher training at intervals, commonly every three to five years, and sooner after an incident, a long break from driving or a change of truck. - **What do we need to have ready on the day?** A serviceable truck with a current Thorough Examination (LOLER) report, a safe area to work in, a room or quiet corner for the theory sessions, and the candidates. If you are short of a truck for the course, we can point you to local hire companies. - **Will the training be on our actual trucks?** Yes, always. Operators learn on the make and model they will drive every day, in the aisles and yards they will drive them in. That is the whole point of on-site training. - **Which parts of Nottinghamshire do you cover?** All of it: Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark, Worksop, Retford, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby, Hucknall, Arnold, Carlton, West Bridgford, Beeston, Stapleford, Eastwood, Bulwell, Bingham, Southwell, Ollerton, Harworth and every village in between. Each has its own page on this site. - **Are your prices quoted with or without VAT?** Forklift Agency Limited is VAT registered. Quotes are given excluding VAT unless stated otherwise. - **Can you train on a live site without stopping production?** Yes. We agree a working area and a timetable with you so practical sessions happen around your operation. Many customers run training on a quieter shift or over a weekend for exactly this reason. ## Other pages - [About](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/about/) - [Contact](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/contact/) - [FAQ](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/faq/) - [Legal information](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/legal/) - [Privacy policy](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/privacy-policy/) - [Sitemap](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/sitemap/) and [XML sitemap](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/sitemap.xml) - [Full content for LLMs](https://forklifttrainingnottingham.co.uk/llms-full.txt) ## Related sites - https://forkliftagency.co.uk: Forklift Agency, national on-site training - https://forklifttrainingderby.co.uk: Forklift Training Derby (Derbyshire) - https://forklifttrainingcentres.co.uk: directory of training centres for individuals
