About pedestrian stackers
A pedestrian stacker is the step up from a pallet truck. The operator still walks behind it holding a tiller, but it has a proper mast, so it can put a pallet in racking or lift it onto a tail lift. Straddle-leg stackers wrap their legs around the pallet; counterbalanced stackers carry the load ahead of the chassis and can handle closed-bottom pallets and stillages. Some have a fold-down platform for longer runs.
They suit small businesses and tight spaces, which is why we train on them everywhere from Nottingham's Lace Market stock rooms to farm shops and workshops across the county. Because the operator stands at floor level while the load goes up, the risk is a raised load tipping towards them, so the course focuses on stability at height, the capacity plate and keeping clear of the mast.
Where a business has one or two people who occasionally lift a pallet into racking, a stacker course is often the cheapest way to meet their legal duty without buying a sit-on truck or paying for a full counterbalance course.

Pedestrian Stacker Truck training questions
Does a stacker certificate cover powered pallet trucks too?
Not automatically; they are separate categories. We can cover both in the same visit if you run both, and the overlap keeps the time down.
Can you train one person?
Yes. On-site training is priced by the day rather than by the head, so a one-person stacker course is perfectly practical.
